Thanks for taking a look at our GivePenny page. Surrey Army Cadet Force are looking for your support - in particular the Cadets and Adult Volunteers of Cambrai Coy.
To commemorate the 75th anniversary of VE Day, EACH detachment in Cambrai has been set the challenge of walking a combined distance of 75 miles on or before Friday 8th May 2020 = your support will help them on their way!
Additionally, on Wednesday 6th & Thursday 7th May 2020 I, (SSI Hedley - Mytchett) will be walking 27 miles on both days - a total of 54 miles - complete with a 25kg pack on my back. "Why 54 miles?" I hear at least one of you cry. In June this year three of my mates and I were due to take part in a 54 mile 'yomp' through the foothills of the Scottish Highlands, but as with almost everything else this has been postponed until next year . . . still looking forward to it.
However, with thanks to Collingwood College in Camberley for allowing me to use their playing field for this solo endeavour (social distancing very much being adhered to!) - I am still able to cover the distance this year, but for another well-deserving cause!
Then, on Friday 8th May 2020 Cadet LCpl Franklin will be 'performing' 26 clapping push-ups at regular intervals throughout the day! Renowned for her 'mountain climbers' during PT assessments, this is an exercise that Cadet LCpl Franklin is NOT looking forward to!
Reason for these physical challenges? We aim to help children in one of the poorest parts of the world to obtain access to one of the key requirements of any human being - a school education. It really is that simple folks.
Thank you for reading and thank you in anticipation of your generous financial support. If you do donate please remember to Gift Aid it!
This is the edit panel. You can update what you are tracking, the design you would like for the block, and what target you are aiming at (if any).
Getting my sh1t together in readiness for Wednesday and Thursday!
So, measured 'course' around the playing field - 580 metres.
27 miles (43.5 km) will need exactly 75 laps of the playing field . . . on both days.
