Thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page. My 7-year-old son Dylan will be running a marathon in a month and raising vital funds for Cancer Research UK. A cause so close to my heart.
As I am sure most of you are aware by now, I was diagnosed with breast cancer back in Feb 2020. Since then I have undergone three procedures to remove a tumour and cancerous tissue. I am now waiting to start radiotherapy. My world has been turned upside down this year, this was meant to be a year of celebration and milestones. My partner and I have had to cancel our Hen/Stag celebrations and postpone our wedding due to cancer and COVID-19. Being in a state of lockdown and not being able to see family and friends to get through this time has been hard enough, let alone going to hospital appointments and for surgery completely on my own. My partner and our two children have had more upset, heartache and setbacks in a few short months than most have in years. I am only 28 years old which is very young to be diagnosed with breast cancer, the doctors all seemed to think it was a freak genetic mutation. I have since been told I have the BRCA 2 gene. This means that my children will have to be tested for this when they come of age, a worry a mother shouldn’t have and a guilt for thinking it is my fault.
But through this all I am so proud and lucky to have the family I have and a son who wants to make sure his mummy is well looked after. Dylan is wanting to help in the best possible way he can, and he wants to raise money so other children can have their mummies by their side always. I hope you will spare what ever you can to help life saving research so people can get the help they need and treatments to keep families like mine together.
